Charles Shimberg

Managing Partner

Charles Shimberg is the Managing Partner of Shimberg & Friel. Mr. Shimberg has been a litigator and trial lawyer for over thirty years, representing clients in high-exposure cases involving general negligence, product liability, commercial motor vehicle and construction site accidents. Mr. Shimberg has also defended mortgage companies in various commercial matters and insurance companies in coverage disputes. He is admitted to practice in both state and federal courts in New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania.

Mr. Shimberg has maintained an active trial and appellate practice since originally starting his own firm in 1993. He has tried cases in the Superior Court of New Jersey, Supreme Court of New York and Courts of Common Pleas in Pennsylvania. In addition, he has argued appeals in the New Jersey Appellate Courts. He previously served as Solicitor for the Camden County Fire Chiefs and Fire Officers Association, Solicitor for the Haddon Township Board of Fire Commissioners (Fire District Number One), and Planning and Zoning Boards, Solicitor for a municipality, Special Counsel to a township regarding land use matters, and for over twelve years, a Public Defender in various municipalities.

Mr. Shimberg holds a B.A. in History from Syracuse University (1988), where he received Dean’s List honors and was a member of Phi Alpha Theta, the History National Honor Society.  He earned his J.D. from Villanova University School of Law (1991).  He is admitted to practice law in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and New York.

A lifelong South Jersey resident, Mr. Shimberg has always been active in his community, having served as a volunteer firefighter for Haddon Fire Company #1 for over ten years.
