Chuck Shimberg, Shimberg & Friel’s Managing Partner, has been in private practice for almost two decades. Chuck is a seasoned litigator whose practice focuses on general liability defense related to products, premises, environmental, catastrophic injury as well as commercial litigation. He regularly appears in Federal and state courts in numerous jurisdictions including New Jersey, Pennsylvania and New York, at the trial and appellate levels.

Chuck is also very involved throughout South Jersey having served in various roles as township solicitor, solicitor for planning and zoning boards, special counsel to a township regarding land use matters, and, for over twelve years, as public defender in various municipalities. Chuck is approved counsel for Camden County for condemnation matters, and serves as Solicitor for the Camden County Fire Chiefs and Fire Officers Association and Solicitor for the Haddon Township Board of Fire Commissioners–Fire District #1 and Fire District #3. Chuck is also on the approved counsel list for Camden County's Joint Insurance Fund for both general and environmental matters. Chuck was first appointed a Municipal Court Judge in 2005 and currently serves in that capacity in the Borough of Pine Hill and Pemberton Township.

Prior to entering private practice, Chuck was a judicial intern to the Honorable James McGirr Kelly of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, and to the Honorable John T.J. Kelly of the Superior Court of Pennsylvania. He also interned at the Camden County Prosecutor’s office. Chuck began his career as an associate at Clark Ladner Fortenbaugh and Young in Philadelphia.

A lifelong South Jersey resident, Chuck is active in the community having served as a volunteer firefighter for Haddon Fire Co. No.1 for over ten (10) years, and is a former Democratic Municipal Chairman for the Borough of Haddonfield.

Chuck holds a B.A. in History from Syracuse University (1988), where he received Dean’s List honors and was a member of Phi Alpha Theta, the History National Honor Society. He earned his J.D. from Villanova University School of Law (1991). He is admitted to practice law in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and New York.
